EXPO FERROVIARIA 2016 ATTRACTS LEADING INDUSTRY NAMES

By early November, the number of companies planning to exhibit at the EXPO Ferroviaria 2016 show in Turin had risen to nearly 180 – and there was continuing strong demand for stand space.

Next year’s exhibition at the city’s Lingotto Fiere from 5 to 7 April will be the seventh of these popular and successful events, and as Italy’s only regular exhibition covering the entire market for railway technology, products and services, it has again attracted many of the industry’s best known names.

Global rail systems suppliers Bombardier Transportation and Siemens will be taking part, as will AnsaldoBreda and Ansaldo STS, now part of Hitachi Rail Europe. ABB, Alpiq EnerTrans, which acquired Balfour Beatty Rail, and Sécheron will also be among high-profile names at the show.

There will be a strong international flavour too, with firms representing 16 countries already on the list of exhibitors. Among them are infrastructure specialists such as Eurailscout, Plasser & Theurer with Plasser Italiana and Vossloh group companies plus Dako-CZ and PESA from the rolling stock sector.

The exhibition has also attracted nearly 40 organisations taking part in EXPO Ferroviaria for the first time, many expected to bring new ideas to the market. Among them are Business France Milan, promoting the capabilities of French suppliers, major Italian rail infrastructure construction company SALCEF and two rolling stock firms from the Czech Republic – locomotive builder CZ Loko and freight wagon manufacturer Legios.

A full list of exhibitors is available on the show website www.expoferroviaria.com.

EXPO Ferroviaria 2016 will occupy two halls at Lingotto Fiere. Special features of the show will include the Infrastructure Area in Hall 2, focusing on products and services specifically for fixed railway assets, and the On Track Display – equipment and machinery related to track construction and maintenance, presented on sections of full size track.

Noting the rapid growth in exhibitor numbers, Exhibition Director Olivia Griscelli said: “The level of support we are receiving for next year’s exhibition both from Italian and foreign companies confirms the attractiveness of the rail market in Italy – and the important role this event plays for the industry. It is also good to see so many firms joining EXPO Ferroviaria for the first time. We are looking forward to a very interesting and busy show.”

An extensive programme of activities alongside the exhibition will include conferences and seminars within the two halls, B2B meetings and technical visits to local railway sites. Details of these will be added to the show website www.expoferroviaria.com.
