Subcontracting 2015: Turnover of mechanical engineering industry on the increase

FINNISH EXPERTISE REQUIRES SALES AND MARKETING

Finland´s leading industrial trade fair, Subcontracting 2015, will bring companies, experts and executives to Tampere from 15 to 17 September 2015. This year the themes of the international trade fair will be sales and marketing as well as new materials and techniques. The exhibitor stands sold out more quickly than ever before, which shows that the event is important to those operating in the industry, despite the current challenging economic situation. According to the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, the beginning of the year has been positive and the prospect of growth in the global economy raises the hope that the upward trend will continue.

“This year´s Subcontracting Trade Fair sold out in record time. There will be approximately 1,000 companies, over a hundred of which will be new to the event. Interest in this event has remained solid and the demand for stands still exceeds our capacity. Over 100 companies are currently on the waiting list and as we get closer to the event there will be even more companies signing up. With over 100 foreign exhibitors, the Subcontracting Trade Fair is also one of the most international trade fairs in Finland. In the future we will place even more emphasis on creating an international event and ensuring that more of those in charge of procurement, particularly in the Baltic region, will come and see the selection of Finnish manufacturing industry on show,” says Product Group Manager for Trade Fairs Jani Maja of Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd.

Federation of Finnish Technology Industries: Positive growth prospects for mechanical engineering companies

“The downward trend in the turnover of the Finnish mechanical engineering industry came to a halt last year. Based on the recent development in orders, it seems that the companies´ turnover will increase slightly in early 2015. The prospect of growth in the global economy raises the hope that the upward trend will also continue towards the end of the year,” says Chief Economist Jukka Palokangas of the Federation of Finnish Technology Industries.

Sales and marketing as well as new materials and techniques as trade fair themes

The themes of the Subcontracting 2015 trade fair will be sales and marketing as well as new materials and techniques. Tampere Trade Fairs Ltd´s partners in the development of the sales and marketing theme are the Finnish Association of Marketing Communication Agencies (MTL) and Tampereen Seudun Viestintäyhtymä ry.

“Finland is full of high standard expertise and highly competent engineers who come up with amazing innovations. There is an incredible amount of new technology and new materials behind these new products and services. To ensure the success of Finnish industrial companies, it is essential that our engineers constantly improve their marketing skills when selling their high quality products to other countries. This is why we believe it is important to highlight new materials and techniques as well as sales and marketing because these themes support each other well. The Subcontracting Trade Fair offers a good forum for us to discuss how we can boldly take over the world with Finnish products,” says Product Group Manager Jani Maja.

“It is fantastic that the Subcontracting 2015 trade fair pays particular attention to the importance of sales and marketing skills. Many Finnish industrial companies would do better if they realized the importance of marketing. Finnish engineers are in great demand, but we would be a lot wealthier and happier if the results of their work also sold better on the global market. There is room for improvement in the way we market our expertise and approach customer oriented activities. We will be strongly involved in developing this theme for this year´s event,” says Managing Director Tarja Virmala of the Finnish Association of Marketing Communication Agencies (MTL).
